Alicia Villescas, LIMHP
Alicia Villescas is a licensed independent mental health practitioner. She graduated with a Master of Science in Clinical Counseling in 2019. She has nine years of clinical experience across a variety of settings, including psychiatric residential treatment facilities, group homes, residential intensive community-based services, vocational services, structured outpatient programs, in-home support for foster youth and shared living providers, consultative assessment, safety planning, directing community-based programs, and crisis intervention. Her experience encompasses working with at-risk youth and families, individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, disruptive behaviors, self-injurious behaviors, autism spectrum disorder, severe and persistent mental illness, comorbid disorders, co-occurring disorders, traumatic brain injury, and trauma.
As a therapist, Alicia is warm, open, encouraging, and direct. She considers herself an active therapist, combining experience, education, creativity, and a down-to-earth, realistic approach. She practices mindfulness meditation and focuses on disrupting negative thought processes. Rather than adopting one methodology, she utilizes an eclectic approach to draw from a variety of theories to create client-specific treatment goals. She understands what it is like to harshly criticize yourself and to feel like everything is out of control. She is compassionate about helping others overcome their struggles with mental health and believes that successful therapeutic healing is a collaborative endeavor. We are forever on the path of self-discovery, and the secret to healing is accepting where you are, forgiving yourself, and loving yourself. Life is tough, but so are you. You will be amazed at what you can attract when you start believing in what you deserve. Alicia is excited to work together to help reclaim your peace.
