Ashley Peterson, LMHP

Ashley Peterson is a Licensed Mental Health Practitioner who obtained her Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2008. She has since spent her career addressing the needs of children and families in crisis with compassion, understanding and behavioral therapy. She has focused on expanding her abilities through extensive training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy to help teens and young adults.

Children enjoy active engagement to encourage growth and development in communication, emotion regulation, problem solving, social and coping skills. Parents benefit from guidance in developing appropriate techniques to calmly address behaviors. Teens and young adults appreciate feeling heard and understood as they strive for clarity and growth.

Ashley has experience collaborating with schools, guardians, caseworkers, psychiatrists etc. understanding the importance of a team approach when necessary. Her proficiency in interdisciplinary collaboration including solution focused, strength-based techniques, behavioral therapy, positive therapy, and dialectical behavioral therapy allows her to make lasting impacts on clients’ lives. Ashley is driven to improve clients’ lives by identifying the root cause, and developing effective emotional regulation, distress tolerance and mindfulness.
Ashley addresses clients’ concerns including but not limited to aggression, anger, defiance, ADHD, impulsivity, depression, anxiety, self-injury, suicidal ideation, low self-esteem and emotion dysregulation, with individual therapy and educational Dialectical Behavioral Therapy groups.
