Ashley Peterson, LMHP

Ashley Peterson is a Licensed Mental Health Practitioner who earned her Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2008. Throughout her career, she has dedicated herself to supporting children, teens, and families in times of crisis with compassion, understanding, and openness. She has also pursued extensive training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), to enhance her support of teens and young adults with their own challenges.

In her work with children, Ashley incorporates engaging activities, books, and explorative discussions to promote the development of coping skills, emotional regulation, problem-solving, communication, and social skills. She also works closely with parents, offering coaching and guidance to build effective strategies for calmly addressing behaviors and concerns at home, in school, and in the community. Teens and young adults value Ashley’s ability to create a safe, supportive space where they feel truly seen, heard, and understood as they strive toward clarity, growth, and resilience.

Ashley has extensive experience collaborating with schools, psychiatrists, primary care providers, hospitals, Intensive Outpatient Programs, guardians, and caseworkers. She values the importance of a team-based approach to mental health care and integrates it when appropriate to support client progress. Her expertise in evidence-based modalities—including Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based interventions, Solution-Focused, and Strengths-Based techniques—enables her to create meaningful and lasting change in clients’ lives. Ashley is dedicated to enhancing overall well-being by identifying the root causes of triggers, behaviors, and overwhelming emotions to collaborate with clients and develop individualized treatment plans that align with their goals and comfort level.

Ashley works with individuals and families to address a wide range of concerns, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation and self-harming urges, low self-esteem, emotional regulation, communication challenges, tantrums, aggression, anger, defiance, ADHD, impulsivity, and parenting issues. She provides both individual and family therapy, tailoring her approach to meet each client’s unique needs.

“I believe therapy is a journey one chooses when it feels like no one else truly understands. I am here to provide the support you are missing, the understanding you are seeking, and the acceptance you are craving—whenever you are ready to take that first step.
