Courtney Frerichs, LIMHP
I am a Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner. I have been in practice for over twenty years in a variety of professional settings. I specialize in assisting individuals and couples recover from betrayal trauma due to infidelity or sex/pornography addiction. I also enjoy working with all types of couples to help them restore healthy communication and intimacy in their relationships and am LGBTQ+ and polyamory-affirmative.
Additional areas of focus are on supporting parents as they navigate issues unique to life with a medically fragile or disabled child, helping individuals facilitate a deeper understanding of depression, PTSD, and anxiety and how to achieve an improved level of functioning, and supporting both women and men with challenges unique to them as they navigate life. I similarly relish the opportunity to work with Veterans and their families thanks to my years spent supporting my husband while he was Active Duty Navy. Other specialties include grief counseling, aging matters, codependency and stress management.
I rely on cognitive-behavioral techniques, motivational interviewing, and on creating a strong, compassionate, and non-judgmental relationship with my clients, incorporating humor when appropriate. People are courageous when they admit to needing help and continue to be courageous as they share their life story and personal and oftentimes painful experiences.
